Programme Overview

The Undergraduate Study Programmer “Economics and Sustainable Development” is an English-taught programme offered by the University of Western Macedonia in Kastoria.

The programmer is interdisciplinary and jointly supported by the Departments of Economics, Chemical Engineering, and Mathematics. Students gain knowledge in economics, sustainable growth, circular economy, environmental economics, renewable energy, and environmentally friendly technologies.

The programmer prepares graduates for careers in sustainable economic development, finance, banking, business management, environmental policy, research, and public administration.

Practical Placement

Students may undertake an optional three-month practical placement equivalent to 3 ECTS credits in any European Union member country. Practical placements provide professional experience in economics, sustainability, business management, and environmental sectors.

Admission & Selection Criteria

Eligible applicants include non-residents of Greece holding a recognized high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Photocopy of passport
• Proof of permanent residence
• High school diploma or equivalent certificate
• English language proficiency certificate
• Additional financial documentation if requested
Students admitted to the programmer receive registration documentation required for issuing a Greek student visa.

Student Services

Students are eligible to receive a Student Identification Card through the electronic system of the Greek Ministry of Education. The University Administration Service maintains official academic records, submitted documents, and scholarship or award information for each student.
